Career Education Sector to Host Reception for Delegates of DNC Convention
In honor of Democrats committed to higher education, the Career College Association is sponsoring a lunch reception at The Art Institute of Colorado during the National Democratic Convention. Event co-sponsors include EDMC/Art Institutes, DeVry and Lincoln Universities. The event will take place on Tuesday, August 26, from 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at The Art Institute of Colorado, 1200 Lincoln Street in downtown Denver. Over 1,500 invitations have been sent to U.S. Senators and Congress members, lobbyists, business and education leaders and corporate executives with over 200 people expected to attend the Denver event.
In attendance will be Richard Jerue, President, the Art Institute of Charleston, Harris Miller President, CCA, Sharon Parrott Thomas, Senior Vice President for Government & Regulatory Affairs, DeVry, and Shaun McAlmont, President COO, Lincoln Educational Services. Congressional and other distinguished guests will offer remarks and comments.
During the reception attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about career colleges through school tours, and interactive classroom activities. In addition, top rated Denver Chef Elise Wiggins of Panzano restaurant at Hotel Monaco will cater the event. Finally, in an effort to showcase Denver and the high quality of work by a career college instructor, a photography exhibit by Art Institute faculty member T. John Hughes called City Panorama Project: Continuing Evolution of Downtown Denver, will be on display in the gallery. This show chronicles the growth of Denver every five years since 1997 of 40 venues throughout the city.
This special reception provides an opportunity to recognize the various state delegates and committee members who have helped to advance the mission and goals of for-profit higher education, and to acknowledge and affirm their support of career-oriented education. As the Democratic National Convention descends upon Denver on August 26, the timing is right to elevate the issues surrounding higher education access and accountability.
